About the Mozziland cattery

Responsible cat breeding in Portugal, with love, experience and honesty.
At Mozziland Cattery, each cat is raised with presence, awareness, and a deep respect for its nature.
Over many years, I've learned that good breeding goes far beyond beauty. It has to do with health, character, balance, socialization, and how each puppy grows from its first days of life.
At Mozziland, we dedicate ourselves to Minuet, British Shorthair, British Longhair, and Ragdoll breeds with a very clear commitment: to breed responsibly, lovingly, and honestly, so that each puppy arrives at the right family with the best possible foundation.
Our commitment goes beyond breeding: we offer lifetime support to Mozziland families, ensuring that each kitten adapts perfectly to its new home. We work with an ethical breeding protocol, respecting the health and well-being of our cats. We perform genetic testing on all our feline parents.
Mozziland Cattery is synonymous with exclusivity, quality, and care in every detail. Learn more about our history and our work, and discover the ideal furry friend for your home.
WHO AM I
I'm Carla, and this is the story of how cats came into my life and eventually gave rise to the Mozziland Cattery.
I've always lived surrounded by animals. Dogs, birds, fish, turtles… animals have always been a part of my life and my way of being in the world. Curiously, however, cats have never been part of that universe.
Even after getting married and starting a family, this remained.
Our daughter, who has loved animals since she was little, dreamed of bringing home all kinds of pets, as if our home could house a small zoo. But cats, for one reason or another, always remained out of reach.
For many years, I myself held misconceptions about them. I saw them as more distant, independent, and less affectionate animals. I couldn't even imagine the depth of the connection a cat can create with its family.
Until one day I decided to give them a chance.
I started reading, researching, trying to better understand the world of purebred cats, their personalities, their behavior, and how they live with us.
And that's how the first cat entered our lives.
That first step was all it took for everything to change.
What began as a mere desire to fulfill her daughter's wish transformed into a deep passion. And
In a short time, there was already a second cat, and with them I discovered something I had never imagined: the gentleness, the intelligence, the sensitivity, and the silent, yet intense, love that cats bring into a home.
Mozziland was born from this discovery.
It was born of love. It was born of respect.
It was born from the desire to breed responsibly and share with other families the unique beauty of living with a purebred cat.
Today, the Mozziland Cattery reflects this passion. A space created with awareness, truth, and affection, where each cat is treated with the dignity, respect, and love it deserves, and where each kitten is prepared to bring with it not only beauty, but also balance, tenderness, and a special bond to the family that welcomes it.

THE HISTORY OF MOZZILAND
Our story as creators began in 2001.
Throughout these years, there has been much study, much observation, much learning and, above all, a constant commitment to improvement. Living experiences outside of Portugal has also allowed us to learn about other realities, learn from experienced breeders, and deepen our knowledge of genetics, health, temperament, bloodlines, and ethical breeding.
Mozziland wasn't born from a hasty idea or a passing whim. It was built over time, with real experience, hard work, and a deep connection with cats.
Every step was taken with the awareness that breeding involves responsibility. And this responsibility accompanies us in everything: in the choice of lines, in the way the cats live, in the socialization of the kittens, in the contact with the families, and in the follow-up after their departure.
OUR WAY OF CREATING
- Family atmosphere
- In Mozziland, cats don't live in an impersonal way.
- Human contact from cedo
- They live with us, are part of our routine, are closely observed, receive human contact from an early age, and grow up in a family environment. We deeply believe that this proximity makes a difference in the emotional development, balance, and adaptability of each puppy.
- Careful observation
- Our cats are not just numbers, nor are they decorative. Each one has its own personality, its own rhythm, its own preferences, and its own very special place within the house and the family.
- Growth with balance
- For me, raising a child has never been just about giving birth. It's about knowing how to accompany, respect, observe, choose carefully, and ensure that each offspring grows up with safety, affection, and stability.
The environment in which cats live.
A family-friendly environment, designed for well-being.
At Mozziland, cats live in a family environment, with space, freedom, comfort, and constant supervision.
There is naturally proper organization and division between males, females, expectant mothers, and mothers with their kittens, but always with the goal of protecting the well-being of all, without turning the cats' lives into a cold or artificial experience.
Puppies grow up surrounded by presence, voices, smells, cuddles, routine, and human contact. They are accustomed from an early age to living with their family, and this is clearly reflected in their socialization and how they adapt to their new home.
Many families say they feel this difference within the first few days.
And I believe this happens because the kittens grow up here as much-loved babies, and not in a distant way.
HEALTH, SOCIALIZATION AND SELECTION
Beauty is never enough on its own.
Health first
At Mozziland, we value health, character, structure, good socialization, and the coherence of creation far above any purely aesthetic aspect.
Character and balance
Choosing the right breed lines, monitoring the breeding stock, observing their temperament, and carefully attending to each stage of their growth are all part of our daily work.
Early socialization
Each puppy should be born not only beautiful, but also balanced, safe, and well-prepared for family life.
That's why we place so much importance on how cats live, on what we observe in each one, and on the time we respect in each phase.
Selection based on criteria
Creating responsibly, for me, means exactly that: not rushing what needs maturity, and not promising what it wouldn't be honest to promise.

BECAUSE WE BREED VARIOUS BREEDS
Over the years, many people have asked me why I chose to breed more than one breed.
The answer is simple: because I deeply love each and every one of them and never felt the need to choose just one to be true to what I believe.
The Minuet enchants me with its rarity, its sweet expression, and its very particular charm.
The British Shorthair and the British Longhair win me over with their serene beauty, striking structure, and balanced temperament.
The Ragdoll touches me with its sweetness, its gentleness, and the special way it experiences closeness with its family.
Each breed has its own identity, its own presence, and its own charm. And, for me, studying, understanding, and respecting each one has always been part of the pleasure and responsibility of breeding.
The heart doesn't love less for loving more than one race. It simply expands.
OUR COMMITMENT TO FAMILIES
At Mozziland, the commitment doesn't end when the puppy leaves.
I enjoy supporting families, answering questions, providing guidance when needed, and staying present because I know that the arrival of a kitten is a beautiful moment, but also full of questions, expectations, and adjustments.
This closeness is part of my way of being.
I want every family to feel supported, respected, and safe. And above all, I want each puppy to be loved, understood, and well cared for in its new life.
That's why contact with families is so important to me. I'm not just looking to deliver a cat. I want everything to start off right.
THE PROCESS
Reservation, trust and responsibility
Each puppy is monitored very closely from the beginning of its life.
We don't work in a rush or with thoughtless decisions. Before any commitment, I like to observe, evaluate, and ensure that each baby is developing well. I also highly value families making their choices consciously, calmly, and with a sense of responsibility.
1. Initial contact: We meet the family and understand what they are looking for.
2. Conversation and guidance: I clarify doubts and help you understand if the breed is right for you.
3. Introduction of puppies or litter forecast: I share current availability or what is expected.
4. Support until the new home: Everything is done with close attention, clarity, and care.
A FINAL WORD FROM CARLA
Perhaps what resonates most with families about my words is the fact that I don't talk about my cats as objects.
I speak from within. With true love. With experience. With responsibility.
And with the awareness that each of them has value, sensitivity, and dignity.
Mozziland reflects this way of feeling and experiencing creation.
If you've made it this far, thank you for taking the time to read.
And if you feel that this way of creating makes sense to you, I'd be happy to talk to you.
Talk to me
If you are looking for a Minuet, a British Shorthair, or a Ragdoll in Portugal, or if you simply want to better understand my breeding methods, I would be delighted to speak with you.
Tell me what you're looking for and what stage you're at. That way I can guide you calmly and with the care this step deserves.
